Location
Santa Ynez Valley and Ballard Canyon
REA Estate Winery is proud to be part of this esteemed wine-growing community. The Santa Ynez Valley has a Mediterranean climate with warm days and cool, foggy mornings, thanks to its proximity to the Pacific Ocean. This balance of ocean breezes helps regulate grape acidity and sugar levels.
Ballard Canyon, a sub-appellation of the Santa Ynez Valley, features a unique microclimate ideal for grape growing. Its geography creates diurnal temperature variations that balance acidity and ripeness. Nestled between the Santa Ynez and San Rafael Mountain ranges, the canyon’s east-west orientation allows for cooling marine breezes, moderating temperatures and extending the growing season. The varied elevations and slopes foster diverse microclimates.
